HOW TO CONFIGURE EUDORA 3.0

When you open up Eudora, pull down the Tools menu and select Options. Click on the Getting Started icon under Category. For POP account, replace userx with your username (or if it's an extra E-mailbox, the username of that mailbox). For Real name, enter your real name or whatever you want to appear for your name in E-mail messages. For Return address, enter your E-mail address. If you have your own domain name, enter it in place of mm.com Under Connection Method, Winsock should have a dot in front of it.

When those options are entered, click on the Personal Info icon under Category. Pop account, Real Name and Return address should already have entries. For Dialup username, enter your 3-8 character username (or if it's an extra E-mailbox, the username you log into our system with. NOT the mailbox name).

Click on the Hosts icon under Category. Pop account should already have an entry. Enter smtp.mm.com for the SMTP server. Leave Ph and Finger blank.

Click on the Checking Mail icon under Category. This is where you can tell Eudora to set the parameters you want. Please make sure you know the ramifications if you select or unselect a parameter. Pop account should already have an entry. We advise not checking for mail automatically while you're online (every 0 minutes), or, if you do check automatically, set the number to, say, 30 minutes. (NOTE: This does NOT mean you can't *manually* check for mail while you're online.) If you skip large messages, they stay in your mailbox on our system but never get pulled down onto your computer. If you leave mail on server, even if you delete it after a certain number of days, your mailbox can still get too large to open (over 10MB). If you don't want to enter your password every time you read your mail, you can select Save Password. Under Authentication style, Passwords MUST have a dot.

For the other icons under Category -- Sending Mail, Replying, etc. -- running with the default settings should be fine. However, if you have any questions about any of the settings, consult Eudora's Help. When done configuring, click OK.

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM . . .

Make sure the POP, SMTP, account name and password are correct.

If your settings are correct, and you're still having a problem reading/sending e-mail, close out of all applications and reboot your computer. Connect again and try your mail again.

If you still have a problem or get an error message, note the problem/message, then call our office (651-681-8018). If you're online and just have a question, you can E-mail help@mm.com

ONCE YOUR CONFIGURATION IS COMPLETE, DON'T FORGET TO BACK-UP YOUR SYSTEM!

PLEASE REMBER . . .

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE ON ALL YOUR COMPUTERS. MAKE SURE TO RUN IT AND UPDATE IT FREQUENTLY!! COMPUTER VIRUSES CAN BE ACQUIRED THROUGH OTHER MEANS THAN E-MAIL.

SOFTWARE TO COMBAT ADWARE AND SPYWARE IS ALSO A GOOD IDEA! MAKE SURE TO RUN IT AND UPDATE IT FREQUENTLY!!

To COMBAT ADWARE, GO HERE.

NOTE: Ad-Aware is the name of the software that corrects the problem. Adware is the bad guy; it's not what you want. Yes, the names are very close. A good way to remember is: You're aware you need Ad-Aware.

TO COMBAT SPYWARE, GO HERE.
