- How much time can I use?
As much as you need as long as you are actually sitting at your computer
using our system. Unattended logins are not allowed. Staying connected
continuously all day long is called line camping and is not allowed.
Your total monthly usage should be kept to below 200 hours; otherwise,
you need a dedicated account. Monthly usage over 200 hours will incur a
surcharge of $0.50/hour (50 cents per hour). If 200 hours a month doesn't
sound like much, it averages out to approximately 7 hours a day every day.
- How do I find out how much time I've
used?
You can obtain a connect time report online by going to our home page and selecting the
Account
Status link. Enter your login username and click Go. A usage report will
be e-mailed to you.
- I want to run my own server, can I do
that?
Only customers with dedicated full time accounts are allowed to run server
functions on their computers.
- Can I get a static IP address?
Yes, however because IP addresses are a limited resource, we do charge
a small surcharge for their use. Check our current rates and services
for pricing.
- Can I have more than one login at a
time?
Absolutely not. If you attempt to login a second time, our computer will
not allow you in.
- Can I have my computer automatically
dial in and check for E-mail?
Yes, as long as it's not done too often. The more infrequent the better.
- Is there an idle time-out?
Yes, it is currently set to 20 minutes. Large file downloads are not
affected by this time-out as your connection is not really idle.
This limit is subject to change at our discretion.
- Is there a session limit?
Currently, there is a 7 hour session time limit. This limit is subject to
change at our discretion.
- How do I change my password?
Only someone on the Minnesota MicroNet staff can change your password.
If you need a new password, you'll need to
contact our office. We prefer to assign you a password; however, you may
pick one yourself if it is difficult to guess, not made up of all numbers
and not composed of dictionary words.
